When is the next PCE Price Index released?

The next PCE Price Index is scheduled for release on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 14:00 UTC. This release will include data for March 2025.

The Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index is released monthly by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) as part of the Personal Income and Outlays report.

It's a widely used measure of inflation in the United States, tracking the average change in prices over time for goods and services that consumers purchase, such as food, housing, healthcare, and entertainment. Essentially, it tells us how much more (or less) consumers are paying for everyday items compared to previous months or years.

There are two versions of the index:

  • The headline PCE includes all categories (including food and energy)
  • The core PCE excludes food and energy (due to the high volatility of their prices)

The core version is especially important because it’s the Federal Reserve’s preferred gauge for inflation. Policymakers rely on it to guide decisions about interest rates and other monetary policies.
